WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 1, 2024 – The U.S. Department of State released the March 2024 Visa Bulletin, outlining the latest information on immigrant visa availability and impacting applications for adjustment of status.
Key Points:
- USCIS to Use Final Action Dates: The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will utilize the “Final Action Dates” chart for employment-based (EB) adjustment of status applications in March 2024. This differs from the usual practice and signifies that USCIS no longer anticipates a surplus of available visas compared to applicants.
- Delayed Filings for Some Categories: While the March Visa Bulletin shows minimal movement in final action dates, USCIS’s decision delays the ability of applicants in various categories to submit adjustment of status applications. This delay ranges from 2.5 to 10 months, depending on the category and country.
- Limited Progress for Specific Groups: Applicants in the EB-3 India category and all “Other Workers” will see minimal advancement in the priority date needed to file their adjustment of status application.
