Mr. Rodrigues is a journalist and Social Media Specialist, having worked with the US State Department for 22 years, acting in various positions in the Communications area and Consular Services units.
He helped create and develop the first US Consular Communication unit in Rio de Janeiro, which became a model for other American Consulates in Brazil. His extensive knowledge of consular procedures and familiarity with the State Department’s communication strategy allowed him to be involved in the creation of various social media campaigns, and enabled him to be one of the Consulate’s main points of contacts with Brazilian judicial authorities as well as with US Congressmen and US Senators.
Following graduation from the Estácio de Sá University, Mr. Rodrigues also completed two advanced Social Media courses in Washington DC, in addition to formal study in Media, Visual Diplomacy, Advertising, Immigration, and Leadership and Supervision.
Several times recognized for his talent in Communications, Mr. Rodrigues has received several prominent awards throughout his career, including two Certificates of Appreciation from the White House, granted for his professional support during the presidential visits of Bill Clinton (1997) and Barack Obama (2011) to Brazil. Mr. Rodrigues was also honored for his Communications performances during mega-events such as the World Cup (2014) and the Olympics (2016), in addition to receiving dozens of other awards and certificates from the US government.
Given his academic and professional experience, Mr. Rodrigues has acquired a solid experience to deal with the most diverse scenarios involving Communication strategy and with consular matters.
Mr. Rodrigues is fluent in Portuguese and English, and conversant in Spanish.
